The Marble City moniker for this neighborhood (and the Knoxville area) came from a 130 yr old industry of mining TN pink marble. When approached by local non-profit Keep Knoxville Beautiful to design for a homely concrete wall, this leaf design came together as an extension of the lovely nearby Third Creek Greenway. The curvy broken line lettering nods to the character of TN pink marble.
